To Hold A Moment

I sought to hold a moment in my hand...
A shining bit of time that would not stay,
and while I clutched it close beneath my heart...
I felt its fragile beauty slip away.

In frantic haste I closed my other hand
upon its shimmering beauty as it lay...
But time cannot be brought back once its gone
...nor yet one single moment forced to stay.

When a Blossom Falls

When a tree bursts forth into bloom,
we are drawn like magnets to the brilliant array of color and fragrance.
When we look closely, we see that every individual blossom
contains its own pattern and beauty.
Each blossom has a purpose--to resist the elements of time
and give support and life to all the other blossoms.
When a blossom falls, the physical form leaves us,
but the legacy lives on in those it leaves behind.
Remember the softness, the fragrance, vitality, and freshness...
remember all the beauty when a blossom falls.

The Mist

When winter's gloom succumbs,
and grief melts in the sun,
warm currents on my breast will stream,
and turn frosted tears to sunbeams...

Sadness moistens my brow like
mist. Silent tears coalesce upon my cheeks.
Petrified by the cold of winter,
Forgotten by the spring thaw,
I shiver and feel lost
in this the season of my sorrow.
Loss has embraced me more than
once, yet it has never seized me.
Hope has been my reclamation,
My emancipation,
From the bondage of despair.
Hope exists in the swelter
Of summer and persists
As the leaves fall in November.
